The Yanomami people are contaminated by mercury used in gold digging

Mercury used by miners to extract gold is poisoning the indians who live in the Yanomami Indigenous Territory, in Roraima, Brazil. That is the conclusion of a study carried out by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and the Socioenvironmental Institute (ISA) at request o Hutukara Yanomami Association. Today in the community of Aracaça, for example, 92% of people had levels of mercury in their bodies above the limit recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). This video is about this study.
