An illegal road of over 40 kilometers cuts through the Apyterewa and Trincheira Bacajá Indigenous Lands, both in the state of Pará, Brazil. Along it, over 745 acres of forest were destroyed between June 2019 and this February.
The advance of invasions and the boycott of surveillance actions put the integrity of the forest and of the indigenous peoples at risk, a situation that may be aggravated with the vote on Bill 510/2021, the "PL da Grilagem" (or Land Grabbing Bill), that could be voted at any given moment in the Senate.
