Against hunger and Covid-19, quilombolas put food on the table in favelas

The Quilombola Farmers’ Cooperative of the Ribeira Valley (Cooperquivale) has delivered over 150 tonnes of produce from the quilombola farms to vulnerable families in five cities of São Paulo since March last year. Their job is part of a huge alliance between partners to generate income in the communities and alleviate the impacts of the pandemic.

Quilombos are groups with black ancestry who developed resistance practices in the maintenance and reproduction of their characteristic ways of life in a determined place.
